Let’s start the new topic Best Things To Do In Mahabaleshwar In A Day. Mahabaleshwar was the first stopover during our Maharashtra Road Trip. It is situated in the Sahyadri hills of the Western Ghats, at a height of 2,200 feet above sea level and 625 meters above Lonavala. And home to Maharashtra’s tallest peak as well. And even though I could relate to it a lot as a hill station, compared to the rest of South & South West India hill stations, I could relate with Mahabaleshwar in many folds.

1 – Strawberry picking
Strawberry Picking A one-of-a-kind thing to do in Mahabaleshwar is to go strawberry picking at a strawberry farm! Pin this for later. This is the complete strawberry picking in Mahabaleshwar guide with pricing, timing, etc. If you are in Mahabaleshwar during the strawberry picking period ( late October to January, depending on weather conditions), you can buy your strawberries. Strawberry picking is something to do for all ages! And a definite must-try for everyone coming in the strawberry season.
2 – Visit At Cheese Factory

This is one of the most iconic cheese factories in Mahabaleshwar. When I was traveling to Switzerland a year ago, I visited a lot of cheese production houses, and this factory brought back my childhood memories. They take you through the cheese-making process and have a vast assortment of cheese to sample and purchase. Organic honey, jams, and lots of locally produced stuff and cheese are also in the factory. Indeed, the most offbeat thing to do in Mahabaleshwar across all the places I’ve been to in India. And I have not seen it anywhere else.
I suppose similar to how Kerala is known for its spices and does guided spice garden tours in Kerala, and Wayanad is famous for its pepper and garam masalas and Ooty for its chocolates. Strategic Mahabaleshwar is also renowned for its strawberries and cheese.
3 – Shopping At Mapro Garden Outlet
“Mapro” is an acronym for Maharashtra Organic Products. It is a facility in Mahabaleshwar with strawberry farms and other stuff like Strawberries and other organically grown things. And indeed, Mapro has turned its outlet into a whole “experience” destination. With a vast open-air restaurant or cafeteria there which faces the valleys, tasty meals like a sandwich, pizza, burgers etc. with strawberry with cream, strawberry based drinks, other cold drinks etc.
In addition to that, there is a garden, on-campus product outlet, candy store and more to visit while on campus. But you need to come in the early part of the day. And it only gets more crowded as the day goes on.
4 – Try Fresh Strawberry Shake
Naturally, strawberries will also be the hero in the dishes; it’s just a no-brainer. If you are going with strawberries, then strawberries are what the dish is going to be all about. The combination of strawberries accompanied with vanilla ice cream or cream in Mahabaleshwar is specially prepared by slicing strawberries and layering them with cream in a glass which is placed multiple layers of both. There are also other delights aside from this.
You may also treat yourself in Mahabaleshwar with a strawberry milkshake made from fresh strawberries, a sandwich prepared from strawberry and cream, and strawberries served with ice cream. What do you think? I’m glad to have one dessert fixed for all the meals in the 4 days we were in Mahabaleshwar 🙂 And, guess what the dessert was based on?? I do not need to ask, or do I??
5 – Visit Arthur Seat
Arthur Seat is, in high truth, a viewpoint. But there’s something very special about this place. Particularly in summer. “The hot air when it’s in the valley. You throw something light and small and downward, it comes back up.. it breaks gravity!! This one — I haven’t it heard anywhere else in India.” Solve the mystery of Arthur’s seat. Check out my in-depth guide here on touring Arthur’s seat for more.
6 – Visit Old Krishna Temple
There are few people who know about this old Krishna Temple that is located 300mts ahead of the town Mahabaleshwar. Whether it be delicate carvings and sculptures from centuries ago, just opposite this temple is a fantastic valley view – with the lush green valleys surrounded by the mountains and the beautiful river cutting through them with Blue-Green mountains as a backdrop.
A vista you’ll be loath to lift your eyes away from! Don’t forget to visit this old Krishna Temple and take a memorable snap of ultimate views of Krishna Valley in front of it & there are a lot of things to do in Mahabaleshwar that are mentioned below.
